The information was taken from the English language Wikipedia and is still largely unconfirmed. It must be checked whether all the figures given actually relate to the usable area.
The Parliament Palace in Bucharest (with a floor area of 65,000 m² and a built-up area of 365,000 m²) and the Turkish Presidential Palace Cumhurbaşkanlığı Sarayı (with a property area of around 210,000 m² and a building area of 40,000 m²) in Ankara are therefore not recorded .
If the ranking was not based on the usable area , but rather the area enclosed by the palace walls, the Forbidden City in Beijing would be the largest palace in the world with 728,000 m² (usable area: 150,000 m²).
Barbara Dmytrasz : The Ringstrasse: A European Building Idea . Amalthea Signum, Vienna 2014, ISBN 978-3-902998-62-0 , pp. 60f. ( limited preview in Google Book Search): “The Vienna Hofburg was built in the 13th century. Since then, it has been built and with 18 wings grouped around 19 courtyards and covering an area of 240,000 m², it is the largest palace complex in Europe. If you include the area of the museums including the old stables - today's museum quarter - you get an area of 500,000 m². "
