List of hurricanes in Sweden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of hurricanes in Sweden includes all the hurricanes recorded in Sweden since 1900 . On average, one hurricane occurs in Sweden each year. There were 115 hurricanes in the 20th century and 16 such occurrences in the 21st century.

A hurricane is a strong wind event in which wind speeds of at least 117 kilometers per hour (32.7 meters per second) have occurred. Usually hurricanes are accompanied by heavy rainfall or snowfall . Especially in wooded Sweden, these incidents regularly cause serious damage to forestry . The power supply is also very often disrupted by the cables, which are often laid above ground.
