Elizabeth Jane Hurley , called Liz Hurley (born June 10, 1965 in Basingstoke ) is a British actress , producer and model .

Life

Hurley was born the second of three siblings before Katie, her younger sister, and after her older brother Michael in Basingstoke, England, to Angela and Roy Hurley. Her Irish father was a major in the British Army . Hurley's Anglican mother worked as a teacher at the Kempshott Infant School, where Elizabeth spent part of her elementary school. She then attended Kempshott Junior School and Harriet Costello School. She tried to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer at the age of 12 through ballet lessons, and she received dance and theater lessons at the London Studio Center. As a sixteen year old she dyed her hair pink and wore a nose piercing: “When I was 16 - this was about 1981,82 - the thing to be in Basingstoke, the suburb I grew up in, was punk . Which, as any hip person will tell you, what way past its sell-by date ".

Worldwide media coverage brought her the safety pin dress , a creation by fashion designer Gianni Versace , which the actress wore in 1994 to the film premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral , which Hurley attended with her then partner Hugh Grant , the main actor in the film. Hurley's appearance was voted number 1 in the Top 20 Iconic Red Carpet Dresses in a survey by the English department store chain Debenham's among 3,000 women .

From 2003 she was in a relationship with the German-Indian textile heir Arun Nayar , whom she married on March 1, 2007. On December 13, 2010, she announced the separation from her husband. Hurley and Nayar's marriage was divorced on June 15, 2011. Elizabeth Hurley has a son with billionaire Steve Bing . On September 30, 2011, Hurley and Shane Warne got engaged in St Andrews, Scotland .

Movie and TV

Hurley made her screen debut in 1987 with the British episode film Aria , which premiered as a competition entry at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival . She made her first Hollywood film in 1992 with Wesley Snipes ( Passenger 57 ). In the same year followed a leading role in The Long Winter (El largo invierno), shown at the Berlin Film Festival , alongside Vittorio Gassman and Jean Rochefort . For the Sexiest Love Scene ( EDtv ) she was nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 1999 together with Matthew McConaughey ; Austin Powers - Spy in a secret missionary position as Movie of the Summer .

In 1996, she founded the production company Simian Films with longtime friend Hugh Grant . Elizabeth Hurley celebrated her start as a film producer in 1996 with the thriller Extreme ... by all means with Hugh Grant, Gene Hackman , Sarah Jessica Parker and David Morse . This was followed by Mickey Blue Eyes (1999), Method - Murder in the Spotlight (2004), as producer and female main cast, and the television show Project Catwalk (2006), the first season of which was hosted by Hurley. From 2011 to 2012 she played Diana Payne in Gossip Girl . Since March 2015, Hurley has played the lead role of Queen Helena in the television series The Royals .

Charity work

In memory of his mother who died of cancer, Imran Khan opened the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center in Lahore on December 29, 1994 as a charitable cancer clinic that provides 75 percent of treatments for free. Celebrities like Sushmita Sen , Elizabeth Hurley and members of the Indian cricket team are committed to running the clinic.

Hurley was also involved in Estée Lauder's breast cancer prevention campaign with the Elizabeth Pink lipstick, the proceeds of which will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation . Elizabeth Hurley, whose grandmother died of breast cancer, hosted The Hot Pink Party for the 10th anniversary of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation . She supported The Prince's Trust by opening the Fashion Rocks charity event and by participating in the Get Into Cooking youth initiative in 2004. Hurley's other charitable work includes the End Hunger Network and the ARK children's charity event.

Others

From 1994 to 2001 she was the face of Estée Lauder . She publishes her own swimwear collection under the name Elizabeth Hurley Beach . In the winter of 2008/09, she advertised the US fur brand Blackglama wearing a mink and caused outrage among animal rights activists.
