Lloyd H. Wood

Lloyd H. Wood (born October 25, 1896 in Grampian , Clearfield County , Pennsylvania , †  February 14, 1964 ) was an American politician . Between 1951 and 1955 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Pennsylvania.

Career

Lloyd Wood served during the First World War in the Marine Corps . After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1940 and 1953 he was their district chairman in Montgomery County . From 1947 to 1950 he was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate . In July 1952 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where Dwight D. Eisenhower was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In 1950 Wood was elected Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania alongside John Sydney Fine . He held this office between 1951 and 1955. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In 1954, he unsuccessfully applied for the office of governor. After that, he no longer appeared politically. He was a member of the Freemasons and the American Legion and died on February 14, 1964.
