Edward E. Beidleman

Edward Ensinger Beidleman (born July 8, 1873 in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania , †  April 9, 1929 ) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1923 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Pennsylvania.

Career

Nothing is known about Edward Beidleman's youth and schooling. After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1905 and 1906 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania ; from 1913 to 1919 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1918, Beidleman was elected Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania alongside William Cameron Sproul . He held this office between 1919 and 1923. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In 1924 and 1928 he took part as a delegate at the respective Republican National Conventions , at which Calvin Coolidge and later Herbert Hoover were nominated as presidential candidates. In 1926 he failed in the gubernatorial election of his party. He died on April 9, 1929.
