The Müsse area is a nature reserve in the Biberach district designated by ordinance of June 5, 1989 by the Tübingen Regional Council .

location

The protected area is located southwest of the Obersulmetingen district of Laupheim to the left of the Rotbach . The area belongs to the hilly area of ​​the lower rift .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is “the preservation and calming of the fen as a habitat for numerous animal and plant species, some of which are threatened with extinction, including their communities, as well as rest areas, winter quarters, sleeping areas and feeding grounds for migrating bird species. The protection purpose also includes the preservation of the fens as part of a wetland network in the bird migration route to Lake Constance. "

Landscape character

The area is a relic of a formerly extensive fens complex. In the center a former rubble dump rises in a cone shape. This is overgrown with trees and bushes. The area is separated into two parts by an asphalt farm road.

Flora and fauna

Some rare and protected species grow in the area, including the flour primrose , the broad-leaved cottongrass , the globe flower , the carnation , the broad-leaved orchid , the flesh-colored orchid and the spherical devil's claw .

The area serves numerous migratory birds such as the ruff as a resting place on the way to Lake Constance. As breeding birds include Red-backed Shrike , Whinchat , blackcap , marsh warbler , yellow wagtail and Baumpieper represented

The area is part of the FFH area Rot, Bellamonter Rottum and Dürnach .
