Mathias Holzner (born May 7, 1965 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a former German duathlete and triathlete .

Career

Mathias Holzner was a member of the national team in the duathlon and winter triathlon (German Triathlon Union) as well as in mountain running (German Athletics Association) and competed in several world and European championships. His greatest international success was the runner-up in the winter triathlon title in 1997 in Mals (Italy) and overall victory in the European Cup in the same year. In 1998 Holzner became vice European champion in the winter triathlon.

His greatest success in the duathlon, along with numerous victories and titles, was second place at the Powerman Italy 1995 in Baselga di Pinè. Holzner was also successful in cycling. He won several time trials and was able to place in front in cycling races. So he could z. B. take third place at the Grossglocknerkönig 1998. Holzner was able to celebrate several successes in the mountain run. Due to the fifth place in the German championship in mountain running on the Predigtstuhl, he qualified for the world championship in Bergen in 2000.

As a multiple brigade / division champion, Holzner was successful for his employer, the armed forces, also at the army championships in Hochfilzen (Austria) 2004 and 2006 in the disciplines of biathlon, giant slalom and biathlon relay race.

Due to a knee injury and several knee operations, he had to end his career.
