New York Film Critics Circle Award / Best Screenplay

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Twice honored as a co-author: the American Alexander Payne

Winner of the New York Film Critics Circle in the category Best Screenplay ( Best Screenplay ). In contrast to other film prizes such as the Oscar , the American Film Critics Association makes no distinction between a script that is not based on a previously published publication (original script) or the adaptation of an already published literary model (adapted script).

The most successful in this category were Woody Allen , Robert Benton , Ingmar Bergman , Kenneth Lonergan , Paul Mazursky , Quentin Tarantino and the author duo Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor , who each won the award twice. The film critics' association was able to present the Oscar winners 20 times in advance (13 original scripts, seven adaptations).

The annual figures in the table indicate the film years assessed; the awards were given in the following year.
