Mazury is a small settlement ( Polish Osada ) in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community of Kowale Oleckie (Kowahlen , 1938 to 1945 Reimannswalde) in the powiat Olecki ( Oletzko district , Treuburg district 1933 to 1945 ).
The place is very remote from road traffic and is therefore an appropriate “gateway” to the nature reserve of the same name .
Mazury is located in the northeast of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship on the southeastern edge of the Borkener Forest (also: Borker Heide, Polish Puszcza Borecka ), 18 kilometers northwest of the district town of Marggrabowa (1928 to 1945: Treuburg, Polish Olecko ). There is a name connection with the one kilometer south of the village Mazury (Masuhren , 1938 to 1945 Masuria), which already belongs to the rural community Świętajno (Schwentainen ) . Before 1945, the current settlement and the village seem to have been geographically connected.
The for rural community kowale oleckie owned small town is now a reference point for the few kilometers to the northwest location Rezerwat przyrody Mazury ( "nature reserve Mazury") arranged between the water surfaces of the Jezioro Szwałk Wielki (Big Schwalgsee) , Jezioro Piłwąg (Pillwungsee) and Jezioro Łaźno ( Haschner See) extends.
Ecclesiastically, the Mazury settlement is oriented towards the Catholic parish in Cichy (Czychen , 1938 to 1945 Bolken) in the Diocese of Ełk and towards the Evangelical Church in Gołdap (Goldap) in the Diocese of Mazury .
