history

The small town was founded in 1705. Its core consisted only of a small homestead. In 1797 a forester's house was set up here and in 1827 a small farm. Klein Sawadden has always been part of the municipality of Sawadden (1938 to 1945: Schwalgenort, Polish : Zawady Oleckie ) in the Oletzko district - called "Treuburg district" from 1933 to 1945 - in the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1938 the small village was renamed "Kleinschwalgenort" and came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war with southern East Prussia . With the Polish name "Zawady Małe" it is now a small village in the network of the rural community Kowale Oleckie in Powiat Olecki , until 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
