Michael Moriarty (born April 5, 1941 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American film and stage actor , screenwriter and writer .
Life
Michael Moriarty was the only child of the Detroit Medical Examiner Dr. George Moriarty and the housewife Eleanor Paul, a native of North Dakota , were born. He spent his school days at the Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills and later at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School . He studied acting at Dartmouth College in Hanover ( New Hampshire ) until 1963 (one of his fellow students was the actor Stephen Macht ) and then received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Artin London .
Moriarty was to take part in numerous plays - especially Shakespeare performances - as well as feature films, including the 1977 miniseries Holocaust - The History of the Weiss Family , in which he embodied the fictional character of the SS lawyer Erik Dorf. For this achievement he was awarded the Golden Globe Award and the Emmy .
For a short time Moriarty was also a member of the editorial board of The New Yorker Quarterly , where he was able to publish some of his poems .
Moriarty was married three times; he has one child with his first wife, the Frenchwoman Françoise Martinet, with whom he was married from 1966 to 1978. His next marriages with Anne Hamilton Martin (1978-1997) and Suzana Cabrita (1998-1999) failed. Parallel to his marriages, Moriarty had a relationship with his manageress, Margaret Brychka, which escalated in November 2000 when Moriarty was briefly arrested in Vancouver after beating Brychka in a bar .
Today Michael Moriarty lives near Maple Ridge in British Columbia, Canada, and appears increasingly as a jazz pianist in Michael's Pub in New York.
His conservative statements are vehemently directed against Islam and the legality of abortion :
“Islam is a kamikaze nation that believes in Allah through and through , just like imperial Japan before the war. His Bible, the Koran , can be compared to Hitler's Mein Kampf . He demands rulership over all of humanity. Islam's only religious freedom is Islam's freedom to rule everything else. The Islamic political parties deserve no more trust than the neo-Nazis , the white racists and the Ku Klux Klan . Unfortunately, Islam understands only one language like Hirohito's Japan : violence. Harry Truman's measures to end the war with Japan are unfortunately necessarily to be considered in favor of a war with Islam. "
“Abortions and the despotic Roe versus Wade court ruling reveal themselves as a virtual burning of the American Declaration of Independence and our inalienable right to life. In the third millennium, abortion is a new form of slavery "
