Morten Madsen (born January 16, 1987 in Rødovre ) is a Danish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Swedish first division club Karlskrona HK since June 2016 .

Career

Morten Madsen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth division of the Rødovre Mighty Bulls , for whose professional team he made his debut in the top Danish division in the 2002/03 season . The winger then moved to the youth department of the Swedish top team Frölunda HC , for whose professional team he was on the ice in five games in the Elitserien in the 2005/06 season . The Dane spent the 2006/07 season at the Tigres de Victoriaville from the Canadian Junior League QMJHL . From 2007 to 2009 he played for the Houston Eros , whose cooperation partner Minnesota Wild had selected him in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft as 122nd player, in the American Hockey League and came in parallel to five appearances for the Texas Wildcatters from the ECHL .

For the 2009/10 season Madsen returned to Europe and played for MODO Hockey from the Swedish Elitserien until 2013 , where he was assistant captain of his team from 2010 . For the 2013/2014 season , Madsen moved to the Hamburg Freezers in the DEL , where his contract was extended by three more years in March 2015 until the end of the 2017/18 season. The Freezers did not submit a license application for the 2016/17 DEL season, so Madsen's service (and that of all Freezers employees) at the Hamburg club ended. On June 27, 2016 Madsen signed a contract with the Swedish first division club Karlskrona HK .

International

For Denmark , Madsen took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 World Championships .
