NGC 6116 is a 14.3 mag bright spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Corona Borealis in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 400 million light years from the Milky Way and about 260,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6109 , NGC 6110 , NGC 6112 , NGC 6114 .
The object was discovered on July 10, 1880 by Édouard Stephan .
