NGC 6258 is a 13.4 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type "E2" in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 145 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on June 28, 1886 .
