NGC 6280 is a gravitationally bound double galaxy. NGC 6280-1 is a 14.6 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0, NGC 6280-2 is a 15.0 mag bright compact galaxy of the Hubble-type C.
The double galaxy can be found in the constellation Serpent Bearer and was discovered by Albert Marth on May 8, 1864 .
