NGC 6293 is a globular cluster in the constellation Ophiuchus . NGC 6293 has a magnitude of 8.3 mag and an angular expansion of 8.2  arc minutes . The object is between 25,000 and 30,000 light years from the solar system and less than 5000 light years from the galactic center .

The object was discovered by William Herschel on May 24, 1784 .
