NGC 6296 is a 13.5 mag bright barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Serpent Bearer in the northern sky ; which is an estimated 305 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on June 17, 1863 .
