NGC 6319 is a 13.5 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is an estimated 376 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6317 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on May 14, 1885 .
