NGC 6315 is a 13.5 likes bright barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBc in the constellation Hercules at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 309 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with NGC 6314 .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6308 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on June 6, 1863 .
