NGC 6290 is a 13.5 mag barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky , which is an estimated 240 million light years away from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on August 13, 1885 .
