Parliamentary elections in Gambia 1992
The 1992 parliamentary elections in Gambia took place in the West African state of Gambia on April 29, 1992. These elections (also: General elections) were for 36 elected seats in the House of Representatives ( English House of Representatives ).
The People's Progressive Party (PPP) was able to get almost three quarters of the seats. The second strongest force was the National Convention Party (NCP).
Electoral process and districts
It was the eighth time the House of Representatives ( English House of Representatives ) elected. The House of Representatives had a total of 50 members, 36 of whom were directly elected. Nine other members were appointed by the chiefs.
The number and division of the constituencies remained changed compared to the 1987 election .
For the third time, the president was elected directly by the people at the same time.

124 candidates ran in the 36 constituencies and wanted to get a majority of voters. Among them, the PPP ran with 36 candidates in each constituency; it was challenged by 30 candidates from the NP and 3 candidates from the UP. Because the NCP and the UP had formed an alliance for this election, this alliance entered into each constituency with the exception of three constituencies. There were also 17 GPP candidates in this election. Eleven candidates belonged to the PDOIS and 16 to the PDP. Eleven candidates ran in this election who did not belong to any party.

201,095 valid votes were cast.
In the election, the PPP won 25, the NCP together with the UP 6 seats. Two seats went to the GPP and two seats were won by candidates who did not belong to any party.
