Naga (officially: City of Naga ; Cebuano : Dakbayan sa Naga ; Filipino : Lungsod ng Naga ) is a Filipino city in the province of Cebu . The city is part of the Metro Cebu metropolitan area .
Naga is the location of a large power station and a cement factory in the Baranggay Tinaan.
history
Naga was founded on June 12, 1829.
On September 2, 2007, the Republic Act No. 9491 , which provides for the elevation of the municipality of Naga to a city ( Component City ), was adopted by a majority in a referendum . 13,823 voters voted for the adoption of Republic Act No. 9491 , 789 against, and the turnout was 33%. The Republic Act No. 9491 was chartered on September 5, 2007. The official name of the city is City of Naga . Naga was the third municipality in the province of Cebu, after Bogo and Carcar , to be promoted to a city in 2007.
