Carcar (officially: City of Carcar ; Cebuano : Dakbayan sa Carcar , Filipino : Lungsod ng Carcar ) is a Philippine city ( Component City ) in the province of Cebu .

In 2005, the metropolitan area of Metro Cebu was expanded to include Danao City in the north, San Fernando and Carcar in the south.

Carcar was promoted to town on July 1, 2007.

Carcar is about 40 km south of Cebu City and borders on San Fernando to the north, Sibonga to the south, Barili and Aloguinsan to the west, and the Bohol Strait to the east .

The urban area is generally flat. The proportion of the area with a slope of less than 18% is 78.7%. Areas with a slope between 18 and 50% have a share of 19.3% of the total area, areas with a slope of more than 50% only have a share of 1.9% of the total area. The highest point at just over 660 m above sea level is in Baranggaay Napo. Inland from Carcar is the Guadalupe Mabugnao Mainit Hot Spring National Park .

The rainy season lasts from May to October, the dry season from January to May with a transition period between October and January.
