history
The original name of Asturias' was Naghalin derived from the Cebuano designation lalin , which means something like "Settlers of distant places." The first settlers came from other communities and neighboring islands such as Bohol . Originally part of Naghalin belonged to Tuburan and another part belonged to Balamban. Over time, the population grew, both due to immigration and due to natural population growth. Finally, the residents applied to the Spanish colonial rulers for approval of their own local government. This request was approved by the Spanish king at the end of the first decade in the 18th century.
