Tuburan is a municipality in the Philippines in the province of Cebu . Tuburan has 63,866 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) and is a second income class municipality and is described as partially urbanized .
The community is located on the west coast of the island of Cebu on the Tanon Strait , about 97 km northwest of Cebu City . Their neighboring communities are Tabuelan in the north, Sogod and Catmon in the east and Asturias in the south.
The community was founded in 1851 and the name Tuburan is derived from the term Tubod, which means 'spring' in Cebuano , as several sources can be found in the area of the community, such as the Molobol and Mantawihan springs.
