Nastro d'Argento / Best Non-Italian Film
Nastro d'Argento : Best Non-Italian Film is a prize awarded by the Italian Association of Film Critics ( Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani , SNGCI). In 1948 and 1949 Miglior film straniero was awarded, that is, the best foreign film. From 1950 to 1953, however, the director of the best non-Italian film was honored with a prize. For the years 1954 to 1958, however, the old award was reverted to. The directors have been honored again since 1959. Since 2007 a distinction has been made between the categories of Best European Film (Miglior film europeo) and Best Non-European Film (Miglior film extraeuropeo) . The Italian directors and films receive their own award .
The directors with the most Nastri (regardless of whether they were awarded in the Film or Director category) include Ingmar Bergman with five Nastri and Pedro Almodóvar and Clint Eastwood with four Nastri each.
