Oberschwaningen is a district of the community of Unterschwaningen in the Central Franconian district of Ansbach in Bavaria.

geography

The church village lies on the edge of the Franconian Lake District in a flat, hilly plain consisting of arable land and grassland with a few trees. In the southwest the field is called Distelfeld, in the south Wäsigt, in the west Wurmberg and in the east Hungerberg. The Grundbach flows through the village and joins some other streams to form a left tributary of the Wörnitz . Oberschwaningen is passed in the south by the state road 2218 , which leads to Unterschwaningen (1.2 km southwest) or Cronheim (2.7 km northeast). The district road AN 47 runs to Kleinlellenfeld (2 km north), a community road leads to Dennenlohe to state road 2221 (1.5 km west).

history

Like the neighboring town of Unterschwaningen, Oberschwaningen was probably also founded in the 5th and 6th centuries. Founded Century. Late Carolingian settlement finds from 850 AD indicate the old age of the place.

In 1593, Margrave Georg Friedrich the Elder introduced the Protestant faith.

Oberschwaningen was in the Fraisch district of the Dennenlohe rule . The rule of Dennenlohe exercised the village and community rule together with the Eichstättischen Vogtamt Cronheim . By the end of the 18th century there were 36 properties and a church, a parish schoolhouse and a parish pastor's house. The landlords were the Dennenlohe lordship (24 properties: 1 courtyard, 3 half- yards , 1 estate, 11 Söldengüter , 2 Söldengütlein, 1 Söldenhaus, 3 houses, 1 house with blacksmithing rights, 1 house with beer, brandy distilling and baking rights), the Vogtamt Cronheim (7 properties: 4 Sölden goods 2 Sölden houses, one house with baking and Tavernrecht), the Oettingen-game bergische Office Sammenheim (1 house), the Church upper Schwaningen (2 goods), the parish Arberg (1 yard) and the parish Großlellenfeld ( 1 yard). From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen .

In 1806 Oberschwaningen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As a result of the municipal edict , it was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Unterschwaningen in 1809 . With the second community edict (1818) the rural community of Oberschwaningen was formed. In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the Wassertrüdingen Regional Court and the Wassertrüdingen Rent Office ( renamed Wassertrüdingen Tax Office in 1919 , Gunzenhausen Tax Office 1932–1973 , Ansbach Tax Office from 1973 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Wassertrüdingen until 1879, from 1879 to 1956 the district court Wassertrüdingen was responsible, from 1956 to 1970 the district court Gunzenhausen and from 1970 to 1973 the district court Dinkelsbühl , which has been a branch of the district court Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the Dinkelsbühl district in 1972, Oberschwaningen came to the Ansbach district. In 1961 the municipality had an area of ​​3.811 km². On May 1, 1978 Oberschwaningen was incorporated into the community of Unterschwaningen.
