Olivia Grant (born September 20, 1983 in London ) is an English actress . Her first film role was in Star Walker in 2007 , for which she was cast in the weeks leading up to graduation from Oxford University . She is best known for her portrayals of Lady Adelaide Midwinter on the BBC television series Lark Rise to Candleford , Grace Darling in BBC3 's Personal Affairs , Hermine Roddice in Women in Love , Henrietta Armistead in Garrow's Law and Ava Knox in the HBO / Cinemax co-production Strike Back .

Live and act

Olivia Grant was born in south west London to costume designer Irene Wilton and district judge Kenneth Grant. She received classical ballet lessons.

At the age of ten she received a place as Junior Associate at the Royal Ballet School and performed with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden Opera House and with the Birmingham Royal Ballet at Sadler's Wells .

Grant received a place at St Paul's Girls' School in Hammersmith , where she combined her studies with extracurricular courses in the performing arts. She gained a junior associate apprenticeship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama .

Acting career

At Brasenose College of Oxford University , she studied English literature while still occurred in ideas. She played u. a. as Isabella in Shakespeare 's Measure for Measure , as Anna in Patrick Marber 's Closer , and as Natasha in Chekhov's Three Sisters at the Oxford Playhouse . During her senior year at Oxford, she received an invitation from Thelma Holt , producer for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Cameron Mackintosh Fund, to audition at the Old Vic studios. Her monologue in Juliet Stevenson's role Nina from Anthony Minghella 's screenplay Wie crazy and from the bottom of my heart was so impressive that within a few weeks she was signed up for Der Sternenwanderer alongside Michelle Pfeiffer , Claire Danes and Robert De Niro .

After her role in The Star Walker , Grant got one of the leading roles, Lady Adelaide Midwinter , on the BBC1 series Lark Rise to Candleford . She spent six months filming in the Wiltshire countryside alongside actors such as Dawn French , Julia Sawalha and Ben Miles. After completing the first series, she was Grace Darling in the BBC Three comedy drama series Personal Affairs , in which she starred as an undiscovered lesbian, based on the script by Gabbie Asher . She then starred with Rhys Ifans in Mr. Nice , directed by Bernard Rose . She later played the undercover spy Anna Larkin in the series Agatha Christie's Poirot (directed by Charles Palmer ) with David Suchet , Geoffrey Palmer and Anna Massey . The BBC invited Grant to appear again as Lady Adelaide in the third season of Lark Rise to Candleford .

In South Africa she shot together with fellow students Rosamund Pike and Rory Kinnear as Hermine Roddice for the series Women in Love . She also played at the Salisbury Playhouse in the play The Picture the Sophia . She was also seen as Diane Ablo in the independent film The Devil Went Down To Islington .

In 2012, Grant starred with Rupert Graves in the BAFTA- nominated BBC period drama Garrow's Law . In the summer of running on Malta filming the independent film Gozo with Ophelia Lovibond . She also played in the ITV crime series Endeavor , in the series Strike Back , in Copenhagen and in 2013 in Legacy .

In 2014 the thriller Breakdown was released , in which Grant plays alongside Craig Fairbrass , James Cosmo , Bruce Payne and Tamer Hassan .

She is currently filming a new 10-part series for Channel 4 and PBS in Malaysia .

Private

Grant lives in Chelsea and writes a weekly blog for InStyle magazine.
