With the III. Olympics 1904 in St. Louis four competitions were in rowing held. These all took place on September 30, 1904 on Creve Coeur Lake , a lake near the Missouri River , about 18 km northwest of the World's Fair and 16 miles northwest of downtown.
The competitions were advertised as American championships, but are still considered Olympic because foreigners were also eligible to participate. Only the eighth from Canada made use of this option. The regatta course on the lake was 1.5 miles (2,414 m) long. Only the four and eight drove the entire route; in the other boat classes had to be turned halfway through.
