At the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki , eleven swimming competitions were held, six for men and five for women. The venue was the Helsingin uimastadion .

Among the participants was the Italian Carlo Pedersoli , better known as actor Bud Spencer , who was eliminated in the preliminaries over 100 m freestyle.
