Puetz-Roth funerals and grief counseling is a company for funerals and grief counseling , based in Bergisch Gladbach .

Development of the company

In 1983 Fritz Roth took over the Willy Pütz funeral home in Bergisch Gladbach . In 1993 the company moved from the city center to the edge of the city and forest to a converted factory and villa. The "House of Human Companion" was built at the new location in 1993, and the "Mourning Academy" four years later. The company has been running the "Villa Trauerbunt" since 2005. In 2006, Pütz-Roth opened the first urn cemetery in Germany to be built and operated entirely on private land ("Gardens of Burial"). From 2010, the company and the tourism group TUI offered trips that were specifically geared towards the needs of mourners. In 2014 the “House of Lawsuit” opened. The cemetery area was expanded from 2016 to 2017. In this "forest garden" it is possible to bury humans and pets .

In the course of its history, the company took over several other funeral homes in the Cologne and Bergisches Land area and currently has five locations. In the first few years, Fritz Roth and his wife took care of almost all operational matters on their own. By the year 2000 the number of employees rose to 15, in 2005 it was 20, in 2008 it was 30. Since the death of Fritz Roth in 2012, his children David Roth and Hanna Thiele-Roth have been running the company.

From 2004 Roth headed the company as a registered businessman . The company has been operating as an open trading company since the beginning of 2013 .

Current business areas

Advice on burials takes place at all locations. At the company's headquarters in the “House of Human Companion” there is the possibility of laying out the deceased - even for a longer period . At the same time, the bereaved can spend days and nights with the dead in the mourning rooms.

Urn burials are carried out in the private cemetery "Gardens of Burial", an area of around 30,000 square meters around the "House of Human Companion". The design of the grave site is individual, anonymous burials are not permitted.

The "Private Grief Academy Fritz Roth" is dedicated to dealing with dying, death and grief. Speakers here included Jorgos Canacakis , Verena Kast and Robert A. Neimeyer .

In the “Villa Trauerbunt” on the edge of the “Gardens of Funeral” there are offers for grieving children and young people. Employees of the “Domino e. V. ”carry them out.

The “Fritz Roth Foundation”, established in 2013 with a founding chapter of 50,000 euros, awards a “Media Prize for Civil Courage” every two years to people who have dealt with grief in an unusual way. The first prize winner in 2016 was Georg Kronthaler, who in 2007 recovered the body of his brother Markus Kronthaler from the summit region of Broad Peak in order to be able to bury him.
