Pakpattan District is an administrative district in Pakistan in Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Pakpattan .

The district has an area of ​​2724 km² and according to the 2017 census 1,823,687 inhabitants. The population density is 669 inhabitants / km². The Panjabi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

location

The district is located in the east of the Punjab Province, which is in the west of Pakistan. The capital Pakpattan is about 169 km from Lahore and 205 km from Multan . The district is bordered in the northwest by Sahiwal , in the north by the Okara , in the southeast by the Satlej River and Bahawalnagar and in the southwest by Vehari .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 1.85% annually. Around 16% of the population live in urban regions and around 84% in rural regions. 927,881 men, 895,656 women and 150 transgender people live in 304,405 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 103.6 men per 100 women and thus a common surplus of men for Pakistan. The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 51% (women: 40%, men: 63%) and is thus below the Punjab province average of 63%.
