Patience Okon George (born November 25, 1991 in Calabar ) is a Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Patience Okon George gained her first international experience at the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow , where she was disqualified in the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary run and in 3 in the 4 x 400 meter relay : 27.57 min came in sixth place. In 2014 she was part of the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , who came fifth and set an African indoor record with 3: 29.67 min. At the 2014 IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas , she took third place with the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 23.41 min and was finished with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:33, 71 min seventh. She then won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay and contributed to winning the silver medal through the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay through your efforts in the run-up. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 she secured fifth place with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 33.08 min, while with the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 32.94 min took seventh place. She took part in the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated again in the semifinals with 52.60 seconds and finished fifth with the relay in 3: 26.72 minutes in the final . In 2018 she again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and was disqualified there in the 400-meter preliminary run, but won the silver medal with the relay behind the team from Jamaica in 3: 25.29 minutes. In August she won with the relay in 3: 31.17 min at the African Championships in Asaba, home . In addition, she finished fifth in the individual competition in 52.34 s. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she was eliminated from the preliminary round with both the 4-by-100 and 4-by-400-meter relays. In August she again took part in the Africa Games in Rabat , where she finished fifth in 52.18 s and won the Nigerian relay in 3: 30.32 min.

From 2015 to 2017 and 2019 , George was the Nigerian champion in the 400-meter run. She graduated from the University of Calabar .
