Patrik Carlgren (born January 8, 1992 in Falun ) is a Swedish football player . The goalkeeper has played in Sweden, Denmark and Turkey throughout his career. At the U-21 European Championship in 2015 , he won the title with the Swedish U-21 national team .

Career

Carlgren played in his youth at Samuelsdals IF before moving to Falu FK . There he made his adult debut. In 2010 he rose - mainly a substitute with five season appearances - with the club on the relegation games in the fourth-class Division 2 . After convincing there too, he moved to the Superettan at IK Brage in early 2012 . Here he was intended as a substitute and successor for Gerhard Andersson , who ended his career at the end of the second division season in 2012 . During the season he played eight games before he confirmed his regular place in the following season. At the same time, he played his way into the Swedish U-21 national team .

In the summer of 2013, the first division club AIK signed Carlgren as a perspective player, with the multiple Swedish champions he signed a contract that ran until 2016. After Ivan Torina's unexpected death in May of that year, a goalkeeper position in the squad had to be filled. Until the end of the 2013 season he was substitute goalkeeper behind Kyriakos Stamatopoulos , after his first division debut shortly after the start of the following season in May 2014 against Halmstads BK , he replaced the Canadian rival between the posts. At the side of Nils-Eric Johansson , Nabil Bahoui , Martin Lorentzson and Per Karlsson , he finished third with the team at the end of the season behind Malmö FF and IFK Göteborg and thus qualified for the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League .

In the summer of 2015, Carlgren was the goalkeeper of the U-21 selection team, which reached the final against group winners Portugal at the U-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic as second in the preliminary round . After the final game was a draw after extra time, the decision was made on penalties . There he held the penalties from Ricardo Esgaio and William Carvalho and thus decided the game in favor of the Scandinavians, who won the competition for the first time. In the 2015 season he repeated the third place in the table with the team, for his good performance over the course of the year he was nominated next to Andreas Isaksson and Robin Olsen as the best goalkeeper for the Fotbollsgalan and also appointed for the January tour of the Swedish national team, where he was part of the national team debuted. In the 3-0 win over Finland two days after his 24th birthday with goals from Emil Salomonsson , Melker Hallberg and top scorer Emir Kujović , he remained clean. However, the game is not counted as an official FIFA international match, which is why it was still listed as an international match in the association statistics.

In the summer of 2016, Erik Hamrén appointed him alongside his rivals for the election of the best goalkeeper of 2015 as the third goalkeeper for the 23-player squad for the European Championship finals in France. In addition to the under contract with champions IFK Norrköping Emir Kujović and Oscar Lewicki from Malmö FF, who led the first division table at the summer break, he was one of three European Championship participants playing in Sweden. He was not used in any of Sweden's three tournament games.

After his contract with AIK expired at the end of 2016, Carlgren was initially without a club. At the end of the winter change period in Germany there were irritations regarding a failed change to the then second division club TSV 1860 Munich , as the club apparently dissuaded the player from changing to the league competitor Eintracht Braunschweig with a better-paid offer , but in turn submitted the change documents to the DFL had missed. A few days later he signed a contract with FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga, which was valid until the end of the season . On the fifth from last game day he made his debut in the championship and then played all games until the end of the season. Although the team was the top scorer with Marcus Ingvartsen, who was successful 23 times over the entire season , they failed to make it into the European Cup as fifth in the table at the end of the championship round .

In the summer transfer period 2017 he was signed by the Turkish first division club Atiker Konyaspor . There, however, he was mainly used only in the cup competition . In the summer of 2018 he therefore returned to Denmark, where he was scheduled to replace Hannes Þór Halldórsson at Randers FC, who had moved to Azerbaijan .
