The Pacific coast is the coast tangent to the Pacific Ocean .

Australia and New Zealand

Settlement of Australia is mainly concentrated on the fertile eastern coast of the Pacific, e.g. B. Sydney and Brisbane and Great Barrier Reef . Tourism is a major economic factor in this region, e.g. B. Surfing, diving, fishing and swimming.

In New Zealand , the east coast borders the Pacific. The North Island has two large bays ( Bay of Plenty and Hawke Bay ). The South Island has a long, straight coastline that is bounded by two peninsulas ( Banks Peninsula and Otago Peninsula ). As in Australia, this region is a tourist destination for its surfing, fishing and whale watching opportunities, among other things.
