from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pinzgau – Pongau is the name of an Austrian administrative unit and describes the NUTS region AT322 , which includes the two political districts of Sankt Johann (Pongau) and Zell am See (Pinzgau) .

To the subject

The region was created for the common EU statistics  (NUTS) for the attention of Eurostat in order to meet the requirements regarding the size of a NUTS 3 region. The term is rather uncommon in Austrian and Salzburg geography. The two districts, together with the Lungau (Tamsweg district, AT321), are referred to as Innergebirg , a historical region of the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg , which once also included areas of the Kitzbühel district and the Zillertal , which is now part of Tyrol , and which is still used as a term for the mountains of Salzburg is common today.

Pinzgau – Pongau corresponds to the landscape of the (inner-alpine) Salzach Valley with the upper Saalach area ( Saalachpinzgau ) and the Salzburg part of the Ennstal ( Ennspongau ), i.e. geographically the - in north-south direction - the middle zone of Salzburg between the Kalkalpen main ridge (without Lammertal ) and the Central Alps - Main ridge.

Key data

Key data of the room are:

Economic sectors (employed):

  • Agriculture and forestry (primary sector): 6% (very high)
  • Secondary sector : 27% (construction, manufacture of furniture, jewelry, musical instruments and recycling, food, luxury food and beverage production, processing and processing of wood, metal production and processing and manufacture of metal products)
  • Service industry : 68% (accommodation and catering, trade and repair, transport and communication, health and social services, education and instruction)
