Moorsee is a district of Kiel .

history

Moorsee was first mentioned in 1222 under the name Morse . Morse means lake in or on the moor. The old village was in 1850 six hooves and thirty-three skating - and Instenstellen . In 1970 Moorsee was incorporated into Kiel. The Kiel city area grew by 557 hectares .

The Moorsee district is located on both sides of federal highway 404 . The district of Poppenbrügge is located in the northern section on the eastern side of the main road. To the south of it is the Schlüsbek district. The settlement core of the eponymous district is located on Schlüsbeker Höhe on the opposite western side of the street.

Schlüsbek was a small village before it was incorporated into Kiel as part of Moorsee in 1970. Before 1869 it belonged to Rönne , from 1869 to 1938 it was an independent municipality. From 1938 to 1970 it belonged to the municipality of Moorsee. The road to the Schlüsbeker Moor was the Barkauer Weg as an extension of the Steindamm until 1971 . This was the connection to Klein Barkau before the B404 was built in 1956 . In addition to the original village of Schlüsbek, which contains half-timbered houses and thatched- roof buildings, which are now a listed building, there are also smaller, more recent housing complexes in the Schlüsbek district.

From 1911 to 1961, Moorsee was the railway station of the Kleinbahn Kiel – Segeberg , whose tracks were removed in 1962. The Kieler Nachrichten printing center in the Wellsee industrial area , built in 2000, is part of the Moorsee district.
