The race was turbulent on the 5.513-kilometer track. Collisions, yellow flags and numerous changes of position determined the race. Thiim got off to a bad start from pole position and was overtaken by Giermaziak. Thiim managed the counterattack and then drove a superior race at the front. Bachler overtook Giermaziak on lap eleven. So Giermaziak drove in fourth place immediately before his title competitor Bamber, who followed in fifth place. During an attempt to overtake on the last lap, the cars touched, whereby Giermaziak spun and dropped to eleventh place. Earl Bamber finished fourth.
