Race reports

1st run: Barcelona (Spain)

Philipp Eng ( Team Project 1 ) secured pole position with just 18 thousandths of a second ahead of Earl Bamber ( Fach Auto Tech ) . Bamber started a little better than Eng on Sunday and took the lead. With five seconds ahead of Eng, Bamber won the first round of the 2014 Porsche Supercup and his first ever race in this series.

2nd run: Monte Carlo (Monaco)

Kuba Giermaziak ( Verva Lechner Racing Team ) laid the foundation stone for his victory in the race in qualifying. On the Monaco street circuit, Giermaziak started the race from pole position and never gave up the lead. Second Philipp Eng followed Giermaziak like a shadow, but it was not enough for an overtaking maneuver. Michael Ammermüller came third with a solid performance: "More was simply not possible on this tight track." With two second places, Eng led the championship with 36 points ahead of Giermaziak with 28 points.

3rd run: Spielberg (Austria)

Four changes in leadership and numerous overtaking maneuvers took place in 16 laps. Right at the front, Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team ) crossed the finish line ahead of Jeffrey Schmidt ( Walter Lechner Racing Team ) and the Porsche Junior Sven Müller (Team Project 1). For Philipp Eng (Team Project 1), who started the race from pole position, everything initially went according to plan. He got off to a good start and took the lead in the field of 26 drivers. In the second lap he fell back and Müller took the lead. After three laps, Eng had to stop the race because of a defect. Guest starter rally world champion Sébastien Ogier (Team Project 1) only got seven laps, then his car no longer wanted.

4th round: Silverstone (Great Britain)

The Silverstone Circuit became a success for Clemens Schmid . The driver from the Walter Lechner Racing Team took pole position on Saturday in the rain. He achieved a start-to-finish victory on Sunday. The leader in the championship Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) put Schmid under pressure again and again, but he made no mistakes and was the first to see the checkered flag. The 25 international field of drivers showed a fair race with numerous overtaking maneuvers.

5th run: Hockenheim (Germany)

It was a close battle between first and third place at the Hockenheimring . Halfway through the 14-lap race, the leaders, Nicki Thiim (Walter Lechner Racing Team), Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech) and Kévin Estre ( Attempto Racing ), had separated from the other competitors. Estre tried to overtake Bamber with two laps to go, but he couldn't. Reigning champion Thiim won his first race of the season. Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) crossed the finish line in sixth place and maintained the lead in the overall standings with five points ahead of Bamber.

6th run: Hungaroring (Hungary)

Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) won the Hungaroring . After taking pole position on Saturday, he achieved a start-to-finish victory in the race. Giermaziak got off to a good start, Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech) was overtaken by Nicki Thiim (Walter Lechner Racing Team). The order of the top three for the sixth run in 2014 was already set. Giermaziak slightly extended the lead in the overall standings to Bamber and led by nine points.

7th round: Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium)

Fastest in training, pole position, race victory, fastest race lap and the championship lead meant one of the most successful weekends in his career for Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech). On the first lap, Bamber slipped across the lane at Eau Rouge and lost the lead to Nicki Thiim (Walter Lechner Racing Team). In the sixth lap, Bamber was able to correct his only mishap that weekend and overtook Thiim. Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) lost decisive points in Spa and fell behind Bamber with 107 to 104 points to second place in the championship. Behind them Klaus Bachler ( Konrad Motorsport ) was tied with Ben Barker (Verva Lechner Racing Team), both with 66 points.

8th round: Monza (Italy)

After starting from pole position, Porsche Junior Sven Müller (Team Project 1) took the lead in the field. Behind them, Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) was overtaken by Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech) and Klaus Bachler (Konrad Motorsport) on the first lap. In the second lap, Bachler passed Bamber. The order stayed that way until the end of the race. Müller won a championship run for the first time in this series (start-finish victory) with the 460 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup . The fight for the title remained exciting after the race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza until the season finale at the Circuit of The Americas ( Austin, Texas ), where there would be two races. After the eighth race, the drivers' championship was still open. Bamber was 123 points ahead of Giermaziak (118 points) and Bachler (84 points). Earl Bamber took third place and won the title of championship debutant “Rookie of the Year”.

9th run: Austin Ι (USA)

With the victory in the first race on Saturday, Nicki Thiim (Walter Lechner Racing Team) will keep the championship open until the last race on Sunday. Michael Ammermüller (Walter Lechner Racing Team) and Klaus Bachler (Konrad Motorsport) finished in second and third place. Championship candidate Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech) finished fourth, title rival Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) finished eleventh. Bamber was 14 points ahead of Giermaziak in the overall standings. In the tenth and final round of the season, 20 points would be awarded to the winner. The race was turbulent on the 5.513-kilometer track. Collisions, yellow flags and numerous changes of position determined the race. Thiim got off to a bad start from pole position and was overtaken by Giermaziak. Thiim managed the counterattack and then drove a superior race at the front. Bachler overtook Giermaziak on lap eleven. So Giermaziak drove in fourth place immediately before his title competitor Bamber, who followed in fifth place. During an attempt to overtake on the last lap, the cars touched, whereby Giermaziak spun and dropped to eleventh place. Earl Bamber finished fourth.

10th round: Austin ΙΙ (USA)

At the last race of the season, Earl Bamber (Fach Auto Tech) won the 2014 championship with a second place. Philipp Eng (Team Project 1), Michael Ammermüller (Walter Lechner Racing Team) and Earl Bamber fought 14 laps for victory and alternated several times at the Top of the field. The only remaining championship contender Kuba Giermaziak (Verva Lechner Racing Team) finished seventh, which was not enough for the championship title. The Verva Lechner Racing Team won the team championship. Ammermüller won a run in this series for the first time.

“I'm the happiest person on the planet today. It was a great Supercup year that ended with a nerve-wracking race. This title means a lot to me. "
