Race reports

1st run: Barcelona (Spain)

With a victory in Barcelona, Michael Ammermüller prevailed against the international competition with a 460 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup from the Lechner Racing Middle East team. The 29-year-old laid the foundation for the start-to-finish victory with pole position on Saturday. After the start, the Frenchman Côme Ledogar (Martinet by Alméras), who won the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2014, placed second. With a lightning start, Kuba Giermaziak (VERVA Lechner Racing Team) moved up from position nine to third place. The two Porsche Juniors Sven Müller (Lechner Racing Middle East) and Connor De Phillippi (VERVA Lechner Racing Team) collided on the first lap, which led to a safety car phase. After two laps the safety car turned into the pit lane and the race was opened again. Ammermüller drove out in front and worked out a lead. There were several exciting battles for positions behind. On the sixth lap, Giermaziak passed Ledogar and secured second place. Christian Engelhart (MRS GT-Racing) finished third in front of Philipp Eng (Market Leader Team by Project 1).

2nd run: Monte Carlo (Monaco)

Starting from pole position, Jaap van Lagen could not be denied the advantage and was the first to turn into the Sainte-Dévote corner. Philipp Eng claimed second place behind. Christian Engelhart , who started from third position, hit a guard rail on the first lap and lost a place to Ben Barker . With a slightly damaged car, Engelhart was able to continue the race in fourth place.

After an accident on the seventh lap in which three vehicles were involved, the safety car had to go out on the track. The field of drivers moved back together, but on the winding street circuit, after the restart, none of the drivers in the leading group were able to overtake. That was the order after the checkered flag van Lagen before Eng.

In the championship, Michael Ammermüller , who finished fifth, leads tied with Philipp Eng .

3rd run: Spielberg (Austria)

Right at the start of the race, the field behind Connor De Phillippi , who started from pole position, was shaken up. De Philippi got off to a good start and took the lead. Philipp Eng , who was in second place , was involved in an overtaking maneuver by Sven Müller and Michael Ammermüller , which cost Eng three places.

Christopher Zöchling was able to make up two positions at the start, he finished third in the field. During the 16 race laps there were always exciting duels. Zöchling worked his way up to the front and was able to overtake De Phillippi on lap six. Eng also fought his way forward again and from the seventh lap the two Austrians took first and second places. Zöchling won a race in the Porsche Supercup for the first time. The 27-year-old won in Spielberg for the Fach team. Third place went to the Spaniard Alex Riberas . Eng sat alone at the top of the overall ranking in the Porsche Supercup, after tied with Ammermüller after the race in Monaco.

4th round: Silverstone (Great Britain)

A total of 31 participants from 13 nations started the Porsche Supercup weekend on Friday. On Sunday the winner was Philipp Eng . He secured pole position and won the race on Sunday. Since the season opener in Barcelona, Eng has improved continuously. In the first race he finished fourth, in Monaco and Spielberg he was second and in Silverstone he clinched his first win of the season. Alex Riberas showed a good performance . As the fastest in free practice and second fastest in qualifying, the Lechner driver repeatedly put pressure on Eng, who was driving in front of him, and he came within 0.3 seconds. After finishing third in Spielberg, Riberas was able to achieve his best result of the season with second place and he moved up from fourth to second place in the championship table. Michael Ammermüller , who started the race from third on the grid, completed the podium in third. He is also third in the overall standings. Ben Barker finished fourth, relegating Christian Engelhart to fifth.

5th run: Hungaroring (Hungary)

Sven Müller made a good start from pole position and immediately pulled away from the field in the first few laps. Côme Ledogar pushed forward at the start, he was able to overtake Christian Engelhart and Michael Ammermüller . Thus the top positions were already taken. Müller continued to build his lead and drove towards his second Supercup victory. Behind the Porsche Junior Ledogar fought with Engelhart and Ledogar prevailed. Kuba Giermaziak passed Alex Riberas on the last of 14 laps . Giermaziak was fourth, Riberas was fifth, two thousandths of a second behind. The leader of the overall standings, Philipp Eng , saw the checkered flag in sixth place. A total of 25 participants from 14 nations started this weekend in Hungary. Among them was 17-year-old Pedro Piquet , son of three-time Formula 1 world champion Nelson Piquet . Pedro retired after six laps due to a collision.

6th round: Spa I (Belgium)

Michael Ammermüller (Lechner) secured the pole position on Saturday afternoon on the seven-kilometer route . After the start, Ammermüller was in the lead. In the third lap he slowed down and a little later, due to a technical defect, he hit a pile of tires. The safety car had to be deployed and when the race was released again on lap six, the front runners stayed close. Müller, who started from fourth place, was already second behind Eng. Müller started to overtake on the seventh lap, Eng braked himself and Müller pulled past. Sven Müller prevailed against 32 competitors and, after his success in Budapest, drove to his second win of the season in Spa. The ranks two and three went to Philipp Eng (Market Leader) and Christopher Zöchling (Auto Tech).

After six of eleven races, Eng continued to lead the championship table with 98 points, ahead of Christian Engelhart (82 points) and Alex Riberas (74 points).

7th run: Spa II (Belgium)

The spectators on the well-filled grandstands saw a group of leaders lying close together over several laps. Philipp Eng was attacked by Sven Müller after the start . The Porsche Junior tried again and again to get past Eng, but he stayed ahead. After guest starter Sébastien Loeb rolled out with a technical problem just a few meters after the start, the safety car was sent out for one lap. Eng accelerated early on the restart, Müller stayed on, but didn't get past. Christian Engelhart scored important championship points with third place. After the races in Spa he is in second place in the overall standings behind Eng and ahead of Alex Riberas , who crossed the finish line in seventh place.

8th round: Monza I (Italy)

The evening sun was already low on the 5.793-kilometer high-speed track when the eighth race of the season started in Monza. Michael Ammermüller , who started the race from pole position, had to admit defeat to local Matteo Cairoli in the first few meters . Several collisions occurred in the rear field, which necessitated a safety car phase after the first lap of the race. The lead Cairoli stayed in the lead until the tenth lap after the restart. Sven Müller then took the lead after a small mistake by Cairoli in the second Lesmo corner.

Monza’s first result brought the championship table closer together. After Müller, Cairoli and Ammermüller, Côme Ledogar crossed the finish line in fourth. Robert Lukas was fifth ahead of championship leader Philipp Eng (128 points). Alex Riberas (92 points) scored important championship points with seventh place. Christian Engelhart (106 points) finished eighth.

9th round: Monza II (Italy)

The challenging corners and the long straights with speeds of up to 280 km / h became the yardstick for the 37 drivers. Matteo Cairoli and Sven Müller , who started from positions one and two, got off to a good start, but Müller won the decisive centimeters and took the lead. He completed 14 laps without a mistake and in the meantime increased his lead to 4.9 seconds. Michael Ammermüller crossed the finish line in third place and with the points he gained, he had the chance to compete in the top positions in the overall standings until the end of the season in Austin.

After the Monza weekend, Müller moved up to third place in the overall standings. Philipp Eng leads the table with 137 points. Christian Engelhart was behind with 120 and Müller with 110 points. Ammermüller followed in fourth place with 106 points.

11th round: Austin II (USA)

After the tenth of eleven races on Saturday was canceled without replacement due to heavy rain, everything went according to plan on Sunday. Sven Müller started from pole position and Alex Riberas from second position. In pouring rain, they initially drove two laps behind the safety car together with the other 28 vehicles. When the race was approved, Müller was unable to break away from his Lechner team-mate Riberas. On the slippery road with a lot of water, Riberas repeatedly attacked the leader and passed him on the sixth lap. Riberas won his first race in the series. After Michael Ammermüller drove past Müller in the eighth lap, the positions for the winners' podium were taken. Jeffrey Schmidt delivered a good race behind Müller and finished fourth. Local Connor De Phillippi was fifth ahead of Ben Barker . Christopher Zöchling saw the checkered flag as seventh ahead of the new master Philipp Eng .
