The Primeira Divisão 1940/41 was the seventh season of the top Portuguese division in men's football. The league operation continued undisturbed during the Second World War , as Portugal declared itself neutral . The game was played from December 29, 1940 to April 6, 1941.
Sporting Lisbon secured the championship title for the first time . In the same season, Sporting also managed to win the cup for the first time and thus achieved the first double in Portuguese football.

Until 1948, the teams that could qualify through the regional tournaments were eligible. Ascent and descent were only introduced afterwards.
This season the field of participants was reduced to eight teams after ten teams participated in the previous season. CF Unidos from Lisbon was new .
