The second season of the German reality show Promi Big Brother was broadcast from August 15 to 29, 2014 on the private broadcaster Sat.1 . The season aired under the title Celebrity Big Brother - The Experiment .

Aaron Troschke was voted the season's winner with 66.25% in the final. Claudia Effenberg came second and Ronald Schill came third.

Changes from the first season

After the first season was not as successful as desired by the broadcaster, some changes were made for the second season. The show was now produced in Cologne and in August and no longer in Berlin in September . There was also a new moderator for the show: Jochen Schropp took over the moderation from Cindy from Marzahn and Oliver Pocher . Cindy from Marzahn stepped as a sidekick this season and commented on the happenings in the house as "Mother of Big Brother". In contrast to the first season, six participants moved into the house two days earlier than the others.

In contrast to the first season there were two container compartments: the upper area of ​​the house, which was called heaven and was kept luxurious, and the simply furnished basement without amenities, which sueddeutsche.de described as a “dungeon cliché”. There were initially six people in each area. Every day the residents of the upper area named a person from the basement who was allowed to move to them, while the audience in return chose a person who had to move into the basement. Due to the new distribution of residents, the subtitle "The Experiment" has been added to the title "Celebrity Big Brother".

In addition, changes were also made to the concept of the live stream and the additional broadcasts.

Distribution of residents

The broadcaster Sat.1 did not change anything about the show's broadcasting schedule. The three-hour move-in show aired on Friday, August 15, 2014. A three hour live show was broadcast on Friday, August 22, 2014. The three-hour final was broadcast on Friday, August 29, 2014. On the remaining days, as in season one, an approximately one-hour summary of the day was broadcast at around 10:15 p.m.

The fifteen episodes were moderated by Jochen Schropp . Cindy from Marzahn was no longer active as a presenter, but commented on the previous day's events as "Mother of Big Brother" during the broadcast. In addition, u. a. they broadcast the webshow. The production studio is located in Cologne-Ossendorf . The studio was set up in the Coloneum of MMC Studios Cologne . Sex Love Rock'n'Roll by Arash feat. T-Pain was used as the season's theme song and as a transition to commercial breaks.

During the broadcasts, the human voice of “Big Brother” is heard by Phil Daub. During the rest of the time, a voice that has been alienated elsewhere is used. Pat Murphy was the speaker of the trailer and recap.

Also in 2014 there was a web show in addition to the second season of Celebrity Big Brother . They were each following the daily TV show on promibigbrother.de, in the TV app SAT.1 Connect , in the 7TV app and on bild.de shown. The web show was produced by Endemol beyond in cooperation with bild.de and moderated by Cindy from Marzahn and Bild reporter Ingo Wohlfeil .

Promi Big Brother - Late Night Live is a live late night show that was broadcast on the private television station sixx and moderated by Jochen Bendel and Melissa Khalaj .

Audience ratings

Compared to the first season, the ratings improved. Each episode was always viewed by over 2.60 million viewers. The total market shares fluctuated between 11.4% and 17.7%.

The highest number of viewers in this season (3.16 million) was measured in the move-in show on August 15, 2014; the lowest (2.62 million) on August 18, 2014.
