Point (journalist award)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PUNKT is a German journalism award that recognizes special achievements in the field of technical journalism. The prize has been awarded annually by acatech - German Academy of Science and Engineering - since 2005 . With the award of the prize, the academy aims to support the social discourse on innovations and their possible applications. The POINT is awarded to text, photo and multimedia contributions that "literally get to the point of technical issues" (according to the self-portrayal). The award is given in three categories:

  • Text category (daily newspaper and magazine / magazine / weekly newspaper)
  • Category Photo
  • Multimedia category (In 2012, a multimedia prize was awarded for the first time for “formats that use the expanded possibilities of the Internet in a pioneering way”.)

A photo grant has also been awarded since 2011, which recognizes the best idea of a photo report with a technical focus .

The categories are advertised alternately every year: in 2018, entries in the text category were awarded, in 2019 the multimedia and photo categories were awarded.

The individual prize categories and the photography grant are each endowed with 5,000 euros. In 2009, for the first time, the jury also awarded a special prize beyond the intended competition categories for the establishment of a technology column in a regional newspaper. The award ceremony takes place annually as part of the academy's festive event.
