The Quetta District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Quetta .
The district has an area of 2653 km² and according to the 2017 census 2,275,699 inhabitants. The population density is 858 inhabitants / km². Various languages such as Pashto , Balochish , Punjabi , Urdu and Brahui are spoken in the district.

The district is located in the north of the Balochistan Province, which is in the west of Pakistan.

Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew at an annual rate of 5.82%, which is very rapid. Around 44% of the population live in urban regions and around 56% in rural regions. 1,193,913 men, 1,081,755 women and 31 transgender live in 276,711 households . This results in a gender ratio of 110.4 men per 100 women and thus a more frequent male surplus for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 63% (women: 37%, men: 78%).
