Quincy Diggs (born April 8, 1990 in Wichita , Kansas ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Diggs finally began a professional career in Europe, where he first won a double in Austria with the Oberwart Gunners and became MVP of the Admiral Basketball Bundesliga 2015/16 . After a season in the German basketball league in 2016/17 with Eisbären Bremerhaven, Diggs will play for the Czech series champion ČEZ Nymburk from the 2017/18 season .

Career

Kansas-born Diggs attended Plano East High School in Plano, Texas in the Dallas-Fort-Worth metroplex , before going to Louisiana in 2009 to study at the University of New Orleans after a year at the Southwest Academy Prep School . Here he played for the college team Privateers in the Sun Belt Conference of the NCAA . Diggs had a rather moderate year as a "freshman" in this college team, where he was able to double-digit points in 27 games. The Privateers, who were also the worst team in the Sun Belt that season with three wins in 18 conference games, were initially withdrawn to Division II of the NCAA at the end of the season, which is why Diggs moved to college and to the University of Akron in the same name Went place in ohio . After the privateers withdrew, Diggs remained free from the one-year break from championship games, which is otherwise mandatory for the university change, and was immediately eligible to play for the university team Zips in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

After a rather moderate main round, the Zips reached the final in the MAC championship tournament in 2011, which they won after extra time against the main round first and arch-rivals Golden Flashes of Kent State University with a point difference, after a final throw by the later Bundesliga professional in the dramatic final seconds Carlton Guyton could be blocked by the Zips. As a result, the Zips qualified for the prestigious national NCAA finals , where they, however, in their opening game, as "sophomore" Diggs as the only player on his team, achieved a double-digit point yield, the number 2 Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame lost and eliminated with a double-digit difference. A year later, the Zips moved into the final of the MAC championship tournament as defending champion and main round first, who had defeated the Golden Flashes in the semifinals with just four points, but they now against the Bobcats of Ohio University just under again dramatic circumstances with one Point difference lost when Diggs' desperate throw from his own half of the game missed its target in the final second. As the loser in the final, it was enough to participate in the National Invitation Tournament 2012, in which, however, the first round game was lost by two points against the Wildcats of Northwestern University , whose top scorer was the future Bundesliga professional Drew Crawford . Diggs, who in his first two seasons for the Zips only eight times in 70 games starter was and as MAC Sixth Man of the Year was awarded in 2012, but was suspended for the following season of his college, which apparently due to on record become private dispute was. After a year break, Diggs returned to the team that had won the MAC tournament during his suspension as in 2011 and failed in the NCAA opening round. This time, however, they already lost in the semi-finals of the MAC championship after extra time against the eventual title winner Western Michigan Broncos . In the postseason it was only enough to participate in the College-Insider Tournament (CIT), in which, as usual, you were eliminated in the first game. Against the mastodon of IPFW they lost 91:97 what Diggs' career in the NCAA brought to a conclusion.

After Diggs did not turn pro immediately after his NCAA career, he finally signed a contract for the Admiral Basketball Bundesliga 2015/16 with the Redwell Gunners from Oberwart in the Austrian Basketball Bundesliga . After the Gunners had already won the national cup in front of their home crowd in January 2016 under the new coach Chris Chougaz , they also reached the play-off final series for the championship, in which they defeated the WBC Raiffeisen Wels in three games and for the first time got the double . Diggs himself was named MVP of the season in Austria. Diggs then moved to the German basketball league to the Eisbären from Bremerhaven , who had previously only just barely achieved relegation. In the Basketball Bundesliga 2016/17 the Eisbären were able to improve with Diggs and were no longer in danger of relegation, but in twelfth place they were still a long way from participating in the play-offs for the championship. With an average of 13 points per game, Diggs was just ahead of Jordan Hull's team-internal top scorer . After the end of the season, Diggs signed a contract for the coming season with the Czech series champion ČEZ Basketball from Nymburk , with which he will also play for the first time in a European club competition.
