Róbert Mak (born March 8, 1991 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak football player . He plays for Zenit St. Petersburg .
Career
society
Mak was born in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia , today's Slovak capital, and initially played in the youth team of the ŠK Slovan Bratislava club . In 2004, at the age of 13, he moved to the English club Manchester City . There he played in its academy for four years and joined the reserve team in 2008 at the age of 17. He was not used in the professional team.
In 2010 he was the Bundesliga club 1. FC Nuremberg committed and arrived there on 28 August 2010 (2nd Round) in the 1: 2 at home to SC Freiburg on his Bundesliga debut when he in the 64th minute for Mike Frantz came on . From the 11th game day he was regularly on the right offensive side, mostly as a substitute, to use. His three goals this season - the first against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on November 20, 2010 (13th matchday) - he scored after coach Dieter Hecking had substituted him shortly before. In total, he came to 22 missions in his first year. In the summer break of 2012 Mak extended his contract term with 1. FC Nürnberg until the end of June 2015. After Nürnberg was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga in the 2013/14 season , he left the club.
For the 2014/15 season , Mak signed a contract with PAOK Thessaloniki from the Greek Super League . He played his first game in the Greek league on August 24, 2014 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw against AEL Kalloni . In the following four league games he got four goals and one assist. PAOK finished the regular season in third place. In 2015/16 Mak was fourth in the table and first in the playoffs with PAOK Thessaloniki, which enabled participation in the third qualifying round for the 2016/17 Champions League season .
On July 22, 2016, the Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg signed him for four years. Mak made his debut in the Premjer League on August 6, 2016 (2nd matchday) in a 0-0 away game against FK Ufa . He scored his first goal in the Russian championship on September 11, 2016 (6th match day) in his second league game, when he scored 3-0 in a 5-0 win over Arsenal Tula .
National team
Mak went through the youth teams of the U-17 , U-19 and U-21 and has played for the Slovak national team since 2013 .
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Slovak squad. In the first two games he was in the starting line-up, in the opener against Wales he prepared the first European Championship goal for Slovakia. He was also on the field for 90 minutes in the 0-0 win against England in the last group game. In the round of 16 against Germany he was not used due to muscular problems, the team lost and was eliminated.
