Rete Uno is the first public radio program for radio in Italian-speaking Switzerland ( RSI ). It is produced in the RSI building in Lugano -Besso and reached an average of 142,000 listeners in 2012. The market share in Ticino and the Italian-speaking areas of Graubünden was 47.2 percent in 2012 , according to the SRG SSR annual report . Rete Uno is the only Italian-language radio program that can also be heard north of the Alps via VHF; some powerful stations, such as the Säntis or Rigi locations , can still be received in parts of southern Germany . The program often identifies itself on-air as Radio svizzera - Rete Uno .

history

Rete Uno emerged from the national broadcaster Monte Ceneri , which started operating in 1933. After the Second World War, an FM transmitter chain was gradually built up for the program, from around 1990 also as a language exchange transmitter north of the Alps. The oldest program is Voci del Grigione italiano , which has been broadcast since 1941.

Rete Uno is a classic full program with a wide range of music as well as words. In the daily program, however, according to the self-description, “light entertainment music” is mainly used. Often these are Italian-language chansons. The high word share of over 30 percent is characteristic. Advertisements are not broadcast on Rete Uno.
