Rai Südtirol (until 2014 Rai Sender Bozen ) is a German-speaking television and radio broadcaster for South Tyrol . It belongs to the Italian public broadcaster Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana .

Rai Südtirol is one of three independent departments that have their headquarters in the Rai radio station in Bolzano . The Ladin-language radio station Rai Ladinia is also located there, as is the editorial team of Rai Alto Adige , which produces Italian-language programs with regional content for Rai Radio 1 , Rai Radio 2 and Rai 3 .

Markus Perwanger has been the coordinator of Rai Südtirol since 2006 . He is responsible for the radio and television programs of the station.

history

The first radio programs in German were broadcast by the RAI (Radio Audizioni Italiane) in 1945 shortly after the end of the Second World War . In accordance with the Gruber-De-Gasperi Agreement , the number of German-language broadcasts from the old broadcasting house in Bozen's Sparkassenstrasse was slowly increased, which officially began the history of the Bolzano broadcaster. The first news programs were created by Vittorio Rainaldi and Fritz Scrinzi.

In 1959, the Funkhaus was built on Mazziniplatz based on a design by the architects Gigi Dalla Bona and Guido Pelizzari . The first radio transmission from there took place on October 12, 1960; On the same day, a dedicated VHF channel for German and Ladin-language broadcasts (today Rai Südtirol ) was put into operation.

The German-language television program began broadcasting six years later on February 7, 1966. At that time, a one-hour program was broadcast daily from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the broadcasting slot of Rete 2 (now Rai 2 ). In the wake of the Second Statute of Autonomy , the German and Ladin language programs were officially anchored in 1973 by decree and in 1975 by state law. The following agreement between the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Rai provided for 4090 hours of German radio and 550 hours of German television broadcasts annually. In 1977 the German-speaking journalists got their own editorial team . From December 15, 1979, the Bolzano station broadcast its television program on the Rai 3 slot . In 1989, a separate television channel was finally set up for German and Ladin-language broadcasts (today Rai 3 Südtirol ).

In December 2012, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol took over the complete financing of the German and Ladin-speaking Rai programs. The scope of the transmission times was set at 5300 hours of German radio and 760 hours of German television broadcasts annually. On January 27, 2014, the German-language broadcaster Bolzano was renamed Rai Südtirol . In addition, new identifiers and logos were introduced for radio and television, the Tagesschau studio was redesigned and all television programs were converted to the 16: 9 format . Since 2018, the broadcaster has also operated its own news website with rai.it/tagesschau .

Radio program

The radio broadcasts are broadcast digitally in the DAB + standard and analogue via VHF in South Tyrol and in neighboring Trentino by the Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol and the Rai network . They are also available via online stream . In terms of content, they are designed as a full program .

The company's own radio channel, Rai Südtirol, broadcasts 5300 hours a year, around 14.5 hours a day. The remaining hours are filled with productions from other stations: during the day, the programs from Rai Ladinia are shown as a window program , at night the program from Rai Radio 3 is shown.

Television program

The television program is broadcast in South Tyrol and neighboring Trentino via DVB-T . The most important television program , which can also be accessed via online stream, is the daily news broadcast . The other program includes reports, talk shows and themed programs (such as minet ).

760 hours of programming are broadcast annually on the company's own television channel, Rai 3 Südtirol, i.e. around two hours a day on average. The remaining hours are filled with the programs of Rai Ladinia and the program of Rai 3 .
