New ministries and reshuffles
After the start of World War II , two new ministries were created, the Ministry of Supply and the Ministry of Defense Coordination. This led to a cabinet reshuffle. Newly appointed to the cabinet was Patrick Little , previously Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach and to the Foreign Minister, who took over the Ministry of Post and Telegraphy.
On June 18, 1940, Land Minister Thomas Derrig took over the Ministry of Education, which was previously headed provisionally by Éamon de Valera .
The Minister for Local Administration and Health, Patrick Ruttledge , resigned on August 14, 1941. He was succeeded by Seán MacEntee , previously Minister for Industry and Trade. Minister of Supply Seán Lemass also took over the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury Secretary, Hugh V. Flinn , died on January 28, 1943.
