De Valera Government 11
The government of De Valera 11 was the 8th government of the Republic of Ireland , it was in office from March 20, 1957 to 23/24. June 1959.
In the early parliamentary elections on March 5, 1957 , the opposition Fianna Fáil (FF) won a majority in the Dáil Éireann (lower house of the Irish Parliament) with 79 out of 147 seats . The chairman of the Fianna Fáil Éamon de Valera was appointed Taoiseach (Prime Minister) by the Dáil on March 20, 1957 with 78 votes against 53 . The ministers were elected by the Dáil on the same day. She and the Taoiseach were appointed by President Seán Ó Ceallaigh on the same day . The appointment of the secretaries of state nominated by the Taoiseach took place one day later. The government consisted only of members of the Fianna Fáil.
Éamon de Valera was elected President of Ireland on June 17, 1959 . He then resigned from the office of Taoiseach and held the office provisionally until a successor was elected. The ministers and state secretaries also remained in office on a provisional basis. On June 23, the previous Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Seán Lemass was elected as the new head of government by the Dáil Éireann (Lower House of the Irish Parliament) with 75 votes against 51 . The members of the new government were appointed by the president the following day.

Reshuffles
De Valera's preferred candidate for the Ministry of Agriculture, Seán Moylan , was no longer elected to the Dáil. Since a minister must be either a member of the Dáil or the Senate , Foreign Minister Aiken also took over the Ministry of Agriculture until Moylan was appointed Minister of Agriculture on May 16, 1957 after his appointment as Senator. Moylan passed away on November 16, and Aiken returned to the Department of Agriculture.
Michael Moran became Minister for the Gaeltacht on May 26, 1957 , the department was previously headed by Education Minister Jack Lynch .
On November 27, 1957, there was a reshuffle of the cabinet. The Department of Agriculture was taken over by Patrick Smith , previously Minister for Local Administration and Minister for Social Affairs. Health Minister Seán MacEntee also headed the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Minister for Post and Telegraphy, Neil Blaney , received the Ministry of Local Administration. On December 4, 1957, John Ormonde became the new Secretary of State for Post and Telegraphy.
The Treasury Secretary of State, Patrick Beegan , died on February 2, 1958. His successor was Gerald Bartley on February 24, and the Secretary of State for Industry and Commerce, Joseph Brennan , was replaced by Michael Hilliard .
