Liam Cosgrave government
The Liam Cosgrave government was the 14th government of the Republic of Ireland , in office from March 14, 1973 to May 25, 1977.
In the parliamentary elections on February 26, 1973 , Fianna Fáil (FF) , who had ruled since 1957, lost her absolute majority. The new government was made up of Fine Gael (FG) and Labor Party (ILP) which together made up 73 of 144 MPs. The new Taoiseach (Prime Minister), Liam Cosgrave (FG) was elected on March 14, 1973 with 72 votes to 70 by the Dáil Éireann (Lower House of the Irish Parliament).

Reshuffles
On November 1, 1974, the Ministry of Public Service was rebuilt. First Minister became Treasury Secretary Richie Ryan .
On February 11, 1975, Parliamentary Secretary in the Department of Defense, John M. Kelly , became Parliamentary Secretary in the State Department, succeeded by Michael Begley in addition to his position as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Administration. John Bruton , Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Public Service, has also been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Trade.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury Secretary, Henry Kenny , died on September 25, 1975. He was succeeded by Michael Begley , previously Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Administration. Begley's successor was Oliver J. Flanagan .
On December 2, 1976, the Minister of Education announced his resignation. He was succeeded by Peter Barry , previously Minister for Transport and Energy, whose portfolio was taken over by Minister for Land Thomas J. Fitzpatrick . Defense Minister Patrick Donegan was given the land portfolio . Prime Minister Liam Cosgrave took over the Ministry of Defense on a temporary basis.
On December 16, 1976, Prime Minister Cosgrave gave up acting head of the Ministry of Defense. The new minister was the parliamentary secretary to the minister for local administration, Oliver J. Flanagan . Patrick J. Reynolds was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Miniaster for Local Administration and to the Minister for Public Service.
At the . In February the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries was renamed the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry of Land has been renamed the Ministry of Fisheries.
